What to Pack for Your HypnoBirthing Birth:
A Calm & Empowering Checklist
As a HypnoBirthing parent, preparing for your birthing day goes beyond packing baby clothes and snacks — it’s about creating a calm, comfortable environment where you can feel safe, supported, and empowered. Whether you're birthing at a hospital, birth center, or at home, the right tools can help you stay connected to your breath, your body, and your birthing vision.
Here’s a thoughtfully curated list of what to bring to support your HypnoBirthing experience.
Relaxing Birthing Room
Comfort, Relaxation & Birthing Tools
These will help you stay connected to your HypnoBirthing practice by keeping you grounded, relaxed, and in the flow:
Affirmation cards or printed mantras
Fairy lights, battery candles or a salt lamp. You can also bring LED light strips to use in your birthing color
HypnoBirthing audio tracks (on your phone, tablet, or MP3 player)
Headphones — ideally noise-canceling or a speaker
Essential oils (lavender, peppermint, clary sage) - they can be used on a face cloth if no one has scent sensitivities
Comfortable birthing clothes – house coat, clothes that are loose-fitting, soft, and breathable
Slippers, warm socks & lip balm
Favourite pillow or blanket from home
Eye mask to block out hospital lights if that’s comfortable for you
For Your Birth Companion
Your birth partner is your anchor — make sure they’re prepped, too:
HypnoBirthing workbook
Birth Companion’s Plan you created
Snacks and drinks to stay energized
Massage tools (tennis ball, rebozo, or hand massager)
Change of clothes and comfortable shoes
Button-up shirt or sweater to do skin to skin with baby after birth
Phone charger or power bank
Camera — if you are one of us that still carries a camera around
Toiletries if labor runs long
Practical & Postpartum Essentials
Don't forget the basics for a smooth transition after birth:
ID, insurance info, and MSI Card
Printed birth preferences – bring 2–3 copies for your care team
Comfortable change of clothes
Maternity pads and postpartum toiletries
Nipple balm and nursing bras
Baby onesie, swaddle, hat, and car seat
Electrolyte drinks or herbal teas
Water bottle — one with a straw is preferable
Light snacks like granola bars or fruit
Optional But Helpful Extras
These can offer additional emotional support and comfort:
Visualization images (affirmations, special mantras, the opening blossom)
A focal point item – something meaningful to look at or hold, it can be something that helps you connect with your baby
Positive birth stories or your personal mantra
Final Thoughts
Your HypnoBirthing journey is deeply personal. The goal of this checklist is not to add pressure, but to empower you to bring along the items that help you feel safe, calm, and connected. Trust your instincts — you know what you need.
